My partner and I recently moved into a new house. This lead to the opportunity to decorate my office in the new house from where I do all my photo-related work. I was looking for inspirational and motivating decoration, and decided to have one of my personal favourite photos printed on one big sheet of wallpaper (3.25m wide / 2.40m height). After all the preparation, the day finally came to glue the wallpaper on the wall. The result is amazing and even better than expected. When I walk into the office now, I feel like I’m standing in that exact room that I photographed. It brings back memories of an amazing time in Italy, and I enjoy it thoroughly.

To give you an idea of the process of how the wallpaper was glued to the wall, I took a photo with my iPhone of every step.

Step 1

The wall I wanted to cover with wallpaper, was covered in grains and couldn’t be used at first. Therefor, the wall had to be smoothed. Before smoothening the wall it had to be treated with a material so the new wall structure would stay attached to the wall. That looked like this:

Step 2

Shortly after this, the new smooth wall structure (stucco) was put on the wall. In the beginning it was very wet and it had to dry for a couple of weeks. That looked like this:

Step 3

After about three weeks, the wall was dry enough. I used sandpaper to remove any unevenness so the wall was perfectly smooth. The dry and smooth wall looked like this:

Step 4

When the wall was ready for the wallpaper to be glued onto it, we waited for a ‘not so warm’ day to do the work. Since it was basically a new wall, we prepared it with primer first so the wallpaper glue would be as effective as possible. That looked like this:

Step 5

The primer had to dry for about 30 minutes. After that, we started putting the wallpaper glue on the wall and put the wallpaper on it. Positioned it in the center, removed unnecessary wallpaper at the top, sides and bottom and cut out the holes for the electrical outlets. The result is exactly what I was hoping for, and I couldn’t be more happier:

If I can put this in my office, you can put it in any room you would like as well. When you’re interested in having one of your walls decorated with wallpaper like this, feel free to send me a message. I’d happily help you take your room to the next level.
